Our friendly neighbor Center 61 has become quite the SXSW aficionado this year. Not only are they helping us out with our 17th Street Party, but they’re also hosting their own social entrepreneurship meetup on March 12 at 5 p.m. at the Center61 space.
The event is a partnership with StartSomeGood.com, a website that connects venture capitalists with social entrepreneurs. Think Shark Tank, but no Mark Cuban, plus nonprofits and do-gooders instead of products and services.
At the event, eight entrepreneurs will be pitching their ideas, with one walking away with the grand prize of $1,000, courtesy of Rackspace. This is going to be a great opportunity to develop some ties to the social entrepreneur community, promote Austin’s innovative do-gooders, watch what works and what doesn’t in a five-minute pitch, and help start what could be the next big thing in social entrepreneurship.
