Intern Welcome – New Korea WEST Fellows

PeopleFund welcomes Yoona, Jisu and Minwook, Jaryun and Jiyeon, our new fellows from South Korea. They are participants of ‘Korea WEST’ program, which provides South Korean university students and young professionals the opportunity to intern and explore the culture of the United States.

Yoona Kim
Yoona grew up in Seoul, Korea and she studied business administration in Dongguk university. Among many fields in business, she is especially interested in marketing and wants to specialize in digital marketing. As an undergraduate student, She did several marketing projects such as a study on visitor’s satisfaction determinants of ‘Seoullo 7017(New pedestrian overpass in Seoul)’. And she participated in a Korean teaching club in university and worked as a planning director. She is eager to chart a course and always be open to learn something new. So she has tried to make her own path and this is what brought her to come U.S. In 2018, she came Austin for a ‘Korea WEST’ exchange program and finally joined the Peoplefund team as a marketing intern. In her role as a marketing intern, she supports her team members with social media graphics, information searching and organizing duties. Prior to joining Peoplefund, she also did similar jobs as an intern at a publishing company FKI media. There, She not only managed company’s official online accounts but also wrote a featured article about crowd funding in a webzine. Through all these experiences, she has built expertise in marketing field that can be applied in her future career. Outside of the office, She enjoys watching Netflix and listening to Podcasts, but simultaneously she wants to have an active hobby like dancing.

 

Jisu Han
Jisu joined PeopleFund as a marketing intern in Advancement and Education team. She graduated from Inha University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Communication. Prior to joining PeopleFund, she worked at an education company Hackers as a marketing staff. She was in charge of social media management and fundraising in a film festival and volunteer jobs as well. Jisu wants to build her career in marketing field. She hopes to broaden her knowledge and experience of marketing during her internship at PeopleFund. She is a foodie, loves to eat delicious food with her friends and sometimes enjoys cooking Korean food. She like to volunteer for the underprivileged whenever she has free time.

 

 

Minwook Oh
My role is assisting the finance team. I’m now in a graduation reservation in Wonkwang University in Korea with an International Trade major. I got 6months experience in office duties when I was in Korea, as a merchandise assistant at SeoChang Industrial Co. Ltd – Guri, ROK. I set my goal in PeopleFund to learn all about accounting, financial works and culture of the America’s company for my future career. Outside of the office, I’m interested in collecting all information about cars. Also I love to drive as well.

 

Jaryun Lee
Jaryun Lee is an accounting intern at Finance team, where she assists CFO, Julia Dunn, with monthly accounting reconciliations and audit preparation. She also assists loan administrators with client documentation and client engagement.  She graduated from Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She had 2 experiences before she worked for PeopleFund. She worked for a Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory and the Entrepreneurship Center in her University as an assistant of accounting and auditing. She wants to learn about the American work ethic and gain exposure to the finance field because she hopes to use the experiences for invigorating start-ups and the small business market in Korea. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, reading books, and watching movies.

 

Hong Jiyeon (Yeon)
Since her birth in Busan, South Korea, she has made it a point to strive for her goals, which were nothing less than her grandest dreams. One of Yeon’s dreams is to communicate with various people and assist people who want little help. Another is to challenge team project like competition. During college, she did volunteering for 815 hours. The most effective activity is to participate in business assistance at Sajik market in South Korea and company tour projects dealing with subjects such as management strategy and industry analysis. In addition, she has had SNS marketing education for effective management, and contacted media outlets for public relations. Also, she provided customer service as a park assistant at Korea Racing Authority about a year. Yeon enjoys spending time with her friends and taking some pictures by traveling. The new thing always makes her alive and motivate. While internship at PeopleFund, she would like to understand process of finance and communicate with other departments gladly. Through Korea WEST, she has been growing by learning and observing!
