HOUSTON , TEXAS. April 2, 2018— NALCAB—National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders announced today that Nini Gutierrez has been named a 2018 NALCAB Colegio Community Economic Development fellow. Nini currently serves as Senior Loan Officer for the greater Houston region. JPMorgan Chase Foundation is this year’s title sponsor for the NALCAB Colegio Fellowship —a nine-month leadership-training program for 18 Latino leaders from around the country.
The Colegio Fellowship provides mid-career Latino practitioners specialized professional development training that prepares them to become strong executive director candidates in the community development field. Through this program, NALCAB is addressing a growing crisis in the next-generation leadership among Latino-serving asset-building organizations.
Economic sustainability and potential for growth relies on the ability to develop new leaders who will guide these organizations’ work and eventually, take the helm in a smooth transition. The NALCAB Colegio Community Economic Development Fellowship program, established in 2010, was developed to ensure that next generation Latino leaders build the practical, personal and professional skills needed to fill the increasing leadership gap in the community economic development field. The program has graduated a total of 99 Latino Leaders from across the country, representing 61 unique nonprofit organizations in 22 states and the District of Columbia.
