PeopleFund Intern Welcome – Emily Neie

by Emily Neie, Development & Communications Intern

Emily NeieMy name is Emily Neie and I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2014 with a B.A. in English and Rhetoric and Writing. During my last two years of study, I interned at the Harry Ransom Center, a world-renowned arts and humanities archive, and I directed five plays with my theatre troupe. I’ve also contributed to literary journals, helped manage a literary magazine, and published poetry.

I love to write, and I love the arts, but I also thrive intellectually in business settings, as I found out through my Business Foundations classes and work experience. I am also passionate about the Austin community, especially when it comes to supporting local businesses, and I enjoy kindling the entrepreneurial spirit within my friends and myself.

It can be difficult to reconcile a love of the arts and an affinity for the business world, but PeopleFund is a perfect place for people like me to flourish. PeopleFund believes in people with a vision and creativity of all kinds, and helps these entrepreneurs contribute to the colorful Austin culture that defines our not-so-little city. I am so excited to learn from the PeopleFund staff who value Austin culture as much as I do, and to channel my creative and compassionate spirit into non-profit business sense and savvy.
