PeopleFund Featured on KVUE to Discuss Veteran Entrepreneurship

PeopleFund was featured on KVUE to discuss veteran entrepreneurship with our client Pizza Delight in Round Rock. Studies show that fewer and fewer veterans are starting their own businesses. Despite potential challenges, Edward Youmans was able to turn a struggling business into one of the best pizza places in town. Growing up in New Jersey, Edward made pizzas for years before moving to Texas. In 2016, he took over Pizza Delight and became a full-time restaurant owner and entrepreneur. Last year, Pizza Delight was voted the Best Pizza in Round Rock.

As a veteran, Edward applies the military values he learned from the Air Force into his business. “We’ve almost doubled our sales” Edward told KVUE.

PeopleFund helped Edward receive capital for his restaurant. Additionally, Grant Bennett was also featured on KVUE. Grant is PeopleFund’s Project Manager for Veteran LLC, a CDFI Veteran Collaborative that helps veteran-owned small businesses. Grant told KVUE that PeopleFund helps veterans build their business plan, introduce them to mentors, and helps them with financial projections. Although there has been a decline in veteran entrepreneurs, PeopleFund strives to help them overcome the challenges they face.

“You’re moving from state to state, from country to country. It’s hard to set root. It’s hard to build credit” Grant stated. “When veterans are looking to open their small businesses, they don’t necessarily have the credit history that normal people do that weren’t in the military.”

Last year, Veteran LLC lent 9 million dollars to veterans. Learn more about Veteran LLC, PeopleFund’s veteran education program titled PeopleVet, and veteran loans offered by PeopleFund.
