Financial Education Fridays with BBVA Compass

Want to learn more about finance?

PeopleFund will be hosting a series of free workshops called Financial Education Fridays under BBVA Compass Center’s Pilot Program. The goal of this program is to provide free financial education, which includes classes on small business and personal finance.

We will be offering a series of workshops in different PeopleFund offices, including:

  • Austin -2921 E. 17th Street Building D Suite 1
  • Dallas – 2801 Swiss Ave. Suite 120
  • Fort Worth – 1150 South Freeway, Suite 129
  • Houston – 2101 South Street Suite 127
  • Edinburg – 300 S. Closner Blvd. Ste. 1

Every location will offer these workshops:

  • Small Business: Developing a Business Plan – Available on October 19th & 26th from 9:00-10:00 AM
    • In this workshop, business owners will learn the seven parts of a good business plan and what to consider when writing a business plan. At the end of the workshop, business owners will have a blueprint or first draft of a business plan.
  • Small Business: Business Financial Statements – Available on October 19th & 26th from 10:00-11:00 AM
    • In this workshop, business owners will learn the three most important financial documents: balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports. At the end of the workshop, business owners will be able to prepare or work with a professional to prepare these documents for their businesses.
  • Small Business: How Businesses Obtain Credit – Available on October 19th & 26th from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
    • In this workshop, business owners will learn the value of creditworthiness and how to maintain a good business credit score. They’ll also discover the documents necessary to make a successful application for a business loan.
  • Personal Finance: Budgeting – Available on November 16th from 9:00-10:00 AM
    • In this workshop, participants will understand the value of creating a budget, and learn strategies to build a simple budget and pay off debt. They will also learn some core habits to practice and maintain financial health.
  • Personal Finance: Credit Scores & Reports – Available on November 16th from 10:00-11:00 AM
    • In this workshop, participants will learn what a credit score is, its importance, and how to read a credit report. They’ll also learn the tools to maintain a healthy credit score and repair bad credit.
  • Personal Finance: Identity Theft & Fraud – Available on November 16th from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
    • In this workshop, participants will learn about the methods used by identity thieves to steal personal information and how to protect themselves. They will also understand what information is at risk and red flags to watch out of for with regard to common scams.
