Opening in Austin in 2000, they proudly boast their motto: “Mint was founded on the premise that happy stylists equal happy clients” which is clear as soon as you walk through the door. Stylists range in technique, experience, and methods, but all bring a positive attitude and their A-game to each client to make for an amazing experience. Each stylist has their own unique start in the industry but it’s clear that they are all passionate about what they do.
Melissa Beckham Gass, the current owner of Mint, bought the salon while finishing her master’s degree. She says it wasn’t a difficult decision to buy the salon because she loved the people she worked with and the great location. However, she did find difficulty in securing financials for the purchase. Banks refused to give her a loan, but fortunately she had a special client who worked for PeopleFund and told her our company might be able to help. Gass says she was thrilled to work with PeopleFund and loved the feeling that she was a part of the Austin community and working with people in it. She took many of our workshops and worked closely with a mentor here at PeopleFund to make sure the company and people she loved so much would still have their beloved salon.
Mint for Beauty was named Best Hair Salon by the readers of The Austin Chronicle, calling it “the best of both worlds in the beauty racket: The salon is hip yet comfortable, [and] the stylists have impeccable taste while remaining friendly, fun, and approachable.”
Mint is located in the beautiful Hyde Park area, near the Austin State Hospital at 4023 Guadalupe, Austin, TX 78751. Opened Monday through Saturday, make an appointment to see any of the raved about stylists for a cutting, coloring, styling, or a few extra beauty services.
