Rio Grande Valley Loan Officer Recognized for Mission-Driven Lending Achievements

McAllen – On May 3rd, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) District Director Angela Burton recognized PeopleFund Loan Officer Jesse Sanchez as the 2016 Area Financial Services Champion of the Year.

Through partnerships with local financial institutions and the SBA, Jesse worked with 19 underserved small businesses in the greater Edinburg/McAllen/Mission community to fund $550,000.

To fulfill PeopleFund’s mission of economic opportunity through capital and education, Jesse and PeopleFund’s education team provided 11,000 hours of business education across the state, including PeopleVET, a veteran focused entrepreneur education program and Emprende, the organization’s first Spanish language financial education program.

“Educational support helps small businesses be ready for loan capital, and working with PeopleFund is a stepping stone to the financial mainstream. The more we build their credit, the better prepared they are to thrive and grow. I’m happy to play a role in helping entrepreneurs reach the American Dream. I’m from the Rio Grande Valley, and I know how hard it can be. I’m honored to be named the Financial Services Champion of the Year, and for the continued partnership and support the SBA provides,” said Jesse Sanchez upon receiving the award during National Small Business Week.

“Jesse is a dedicated member of our team and we are proud of his achievement. This award is a celebration of what can be accomplished when the community works together to support small businesses.” Said Rocio Vallejo, Director of Lending, Education, and Training.

PeopleFund’s physical address in McAllen is 813 N. Main Street Suite 201B.
