Community nonprofit PeopleFund announced their annual economic summit and fundraising event, to be held at Austin Lumber Company on October 25th. This year, the summit will concentrate on the impact of Austin’s arts and cultural industries. Panel topics will focus on the intersection between arts and culture in the public and private business sector. Session leaders will discuss opportunities and challenges related to integrating arts and business, as well as innovative approaches to funding, strengthening business skills, creative community development, and successful models happening in our backyard.
The event will feature keynote speaker Suzi Sosa, of the RGK Center for Philanthropy and the Dell Social Innovation Challenge, as well as moderators and panelists from all walks of our community: Generous Art, Pegasus Planning, Austin Film Society, Greenlights for Nonprofit Success, Capital Metro, Foundation Communities, City of Austin, Austin ISD, Big Medium, E.A.S.T, Alamo Drafthouse, MFI Foundation, PRo Arts Collective, and others. Key influencers in content creation were Lisa Byrd of ProArts Collective and Ballet Austin, and Ann Graham of Create Austin and Theater Action Project. The celebration portion of the event, to take place immediately following the summit, will recognize PeopleFund’s volunteers, clients, donors, and stakeholders.
