Our client, Barbara Oldums of Industrial Solutions shared the story of her business, Industrial Solutions. Read her story below:
“We started Industrial Solutions in 2011, it’s our 9th year of business. We are a wholesale distributor of safety and janitorial supplies. We have multibillion-dollar competitors, so we found that good customer service is key. We’re honest with our customers, and communicate openly with them- it’s not about building a business, it’s about building relationships.
“The pandemic really brought this to light, it enabled us to really be there for our clients. When COVID-19 hit, we expanded our products to help our clients keep their businesses running and stay safe- as an example, we supplied PPE to the Texas Rangers for the World Series. Determination is key, nobody was prepared for what the pandemic would bring, but we focused on figuring it out and doing the best for our customers. Despite all that’s happened this year, we are growing and hiring.
“However, it’s been a journey to get to this point. In 2017 I had the opportunity to meet Erika, a loan officer at PeopleFund. She helped us secure a $25,000 loan. This loan helped us secure some big contracts we had been trying to close. 2018 is when we got a $50,000 loan from PeopleFund. I was so overwhelmed with joy I cried at my desk. It helped us take our business to the next level. I completed the Cornell University, Bank of America Entrepreneurship Program, and recently won the Jackie Robinson Diverse Partnership Award. I really appreciate everything PeopleFund has done for us.”
