In August 2017 Hurricane Harvey caused severe damage in 33 Texas counties. 90 PeopleFund clients were in the destructive path of the storm. PeopleFund made a conscious decision to make loan payments for these clients out of corporate funds initially for 6 months: September 2017 – February 2018. In addition, we have deployed mentors and staff to assist with ongoing business recovery efforts. We have also partnered with the Houston Office of Business Opportunity, Staples and the Federal Home Loan bank for other needed services.
Immediately after the storm, PeopleFund launched the Hurricane Harvey bounceback loan, with a low interest rate and expedited underwriting. PeopleFund lends from $1,000 to $350,000 and provides capital to a wide variety of small businesses, from retail, healthcare, social and professional services, restaurants, manufacturing, and more. We complement our loans with small business education and support, including: classroom style instruction, onsite support, business advising, document templates, mentorship, and bootcamps – all free of charge.
We want to see small businesses rebuild and recover from Hurricane Harvey. Whether in a rural town or within the Houston metro area, small businesses are the heartbeat of our local economy. We want to provide the capital and tools you need to recover, rebuild, and revive our state.
