PeopleFund is an active member of the local community.
PeopleFund participates in event-based outreach to engage the community in our mission of creating opportunity for small businesses through financial and technical support and helping them achieve financial security and independence.
We host educational workshops through our Business Education Program as well as high impact community events such as our Economic Summit and our PeopleTalk Speaker Series. See our Community Calendar for upcoming events.
PeopleTalk Speaker Series
Twice a year, PeopleFund and Bank of America present interactive lunchtime discussions with national experts and provocative thinkers in the fields of social equity and economic development at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin. In 2011 we were proud to present two of Austin’s most notable figures–Evan Smith, editor of The Texas Tribune and John Paul DeJoria, entrepreneur/philanthropist and founder of Paul Mitchell Systems. Each spoke on a range of topics–from policy to profitability for small business–and took questions from the audience on their various ventures. We look forward to another excellent series in 2012!
East Night 2012 will take place at Austin Lumber Company and will focus on the Creative Arts Community in Austin. Half conference, half celebration, the event is sure to be informative, entertaining, and an engaging way to recognize small businesses, artisans, and the important economic relationship between the two. We’ll recognize PeopleFund clients, volunteers, and stakeholders in a laid back atmosphere. Thanks to all who came out to support our mission.
PeopleTalk Economic Summit
Each year, the Economic Summit unites community members and policy makers throughout the region in a dynamic dialogue about our region’s evolving economy. The 2011 Summit was held on Saturday, October 22nd at the ACC Eastview Campus and featured keynote speaker Ted Abernathy of Southern Growth Policies Board.
